Served: in the Florida War, 1838‑39; on Recruiting service, 1839‑40; in the Florida War, 1840‑41; in garrison at Baton Rouge, La.; on (First Lieut., 2d Dragoons, February. 2, 1841) frontier duty at Ft. Jesup, La., 1841‑43, 1844‑46; and in the War with Mexico, 1846, being engaged in the Battle of Palo Alto, May 8, 1846, — and Battle of Resaca-de‑la‑Palma, May 9, 1846, where, at the head of his Platoon, while gallantly charging the enemy’s batteries, he was killed.
