Note: Original enlistment on May 13, 1898 in Chicago, Illinois into E Trp, 2d Cavalry. He was 22 yrs 3 mos.  He was discharged on January 23, 1899 in Huntsville, Alabama and held the rank of private.  Reenlisted in the same troop the next day.

He stood 5’4½” with blue eyes, light brown hair, and fair complexion.
