Note: He enlisted in the Wisconsin National Guard and was first deployed in 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, according to state records. He was shot while home on leave from his deployment in Afghanistan.  He had less than two months before 2d SCR redeployed back home to Germany.
